HISTORY

Dialogue instead of violence !

Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969), Aikido’s founder, began in his native Japan studying different Japanese martial arts. Based on the knowledge he accrued there and through many intellectual and personal experiences, he created Aikido in the mid-20th century. Since then, this still relatively young martial art has been attracting new followers.
Morihei Ueshiba understood that the aim of Budo cannot merely be the protection of oneself through the destruction of one’s opponent, but rather the protection of all those who are involved. The one attacking is controlled, but not injured; despite the conflict, communication is maintained. Dialogue prevails over violence.
